I'm thrilled MACplayers at Monongalia Arts Center will be performing my new fast-paced, lighthearted comedy stage play, "Zombie Texts from the Future," to celebrate the upcoming Halloween season!

Auditions are 6-8 p.m. Thursday Sept. 4, and 1-3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 6 at Monongalia Arts Center (MAC), 107 High Street, Morgantown (scroll down for full audition announcement below...)

THANKS to ALL who've had a role, either directly or indirectly, making "Texts from the Future" happen:

Thanks to director Mara Monaghan for taking on the project. Thanks to MAC director Ro Brooks and MAC staff member Daniel Gibbons, and Sami Rose, for your ongoing support. Thanks to technical adviser Roger Banks for helping us get this show off the ground. Appreciation to artist and writer Ashton EB Cutright of the recently launched Passive Terrain Press for her creative zombie-promo design.

I'm also happy to announce my friend, author, blogger and Morgantown Poets' coordinator, Scott Emerson, is coming on board as our official "Zombie Godfather slash In-House Expert," should any unforeseen zombie-related questions arise from the dead...

I owe Scott a huge thanks for biting my hand during a poets' event one dark & stormy night, transforming me into a rabid, raving zombie fan... It's a safe bet "Zombie Texts from the Future" might not have been written without Scott's sharing his awesome zombie poetry, along with his strong fiction writing and inspiration. Zombie fans, be sure to bookmark Scott's blog, "Brain Nuggets," to read his excellent, ongoing reviews of zombie fiction, poetry, and the horror genre in general. Likewise, thanks to our local playwrights' group, including Donald Fidler, Dwight Harshbarger, Judith Stitzel and other fellow stage/screen writers for keeping me writing.

Thanks to ALL theatre friends and all my friends who've shared links & helps us get the word out so far... With a big shout out to David & Amy Loomis and entire WVU Swing Dance Club; and, especially to all the comics who regularly perform at 4th & Goal Sport's Bar Comedy Open Mic, including, but not limited to, Justin Powers, Wayne Dorsey, Allen Beavers, Jordan Bailey, Kasey Kesner, along with every comic who gave me much-needed laughs this year. You guys have definitely helped bring my sense of humor back from the grave. Morgantown folks & folks passing through on I-79 or I-68, be sure you get down to4th & Goal at 9 p.m. every Wednesday to hear these talented comics. Thanks to The Dominion Post and Jake Jarvis of The Daily Athenaeum and all local media/folks for also helping us get the word out about auditions.

Again, much appreciation to MACplayers as a whole, including Seret Cole, as well as everyone who has already signed up for auditions via the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/705851956175604/.

Actors (both experienced and new): You can still join us for auditions! We'd love to have YOU! The more the merrier!

And friends, do us a favor right now: SHARE the Facebook Audition Announcement with all your friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

OPEN AUDITIONS for: "Zombie Texts from the Future" by Theodore Webb

A very special Halloween production of the Mononglia Arts Center and the MACplayers.

Auditions for this exciting MACplayers zombie Halloween extravaganza will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday Sept. 4 and 1-3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 6 at Monongalia Arts Center (MAC), 107 High Street, Morgantown. Auditions will be in the Tanner Theatre at the MAC. The MAC is located in Historic Downtown Morgantown, next to the Clarion Hotel Morgan.

Performances for "Zombie Texts from the Future" are scheduled for 8pm. Oct. 29 and 30, 31, and Nov. 1. Rehearsals begin the second week of September. Auditioning actors must be available for scheduled rehearsals, performance dates and times.

SYNOPSIS:

“Zombie Texts from the Future” is a zany “apocalyptic” comedy directed by Mara Monaghan and written by local Morgantown author Theodore Webb.

In Theodore Webb’s “Zombie Texts from the Future,” a college student receives random “zombie” text messages, seemingly from out of nowhere. The student’s obsession with the bizarre messages causes uproarious misunderstandings with his roommate and girlfriend.

Roles include:

Richard “Rich” Nash, the obsession-prone statistics student who can't stop thinking about the messages

Rich’s roommate Christopher “Chris” Weathers, the hunky, beer-drinking, zombie video game addict

Sarah Jenkins, the expressive actor who loves to dance while wearing outlandish costumes

Stoned Justice, the older authority figure, and

Margaret "Margie" Oleander, the overly dedicated television reporter struggling to make sense of it all.

All committed actors are welcome to audition for Theodore Webb’s fun, dynamic Halloween comedy on any of the audition evenings, no appointment necessary.

No experience is necessary to audition (both experienced and inexperienced actors are welcome). The main requirement is commitment.

Auditions will consist of 5-10 minute readings from the script, which will be made available during auditions. Note: A script is available by request at the MAC for on-site review only.

Actors passionate about participating, but who aren’t able to make the scheduled auditions may set up an audition appointment with director Mara Monaghan at 304-676-7930. Questions may also be directed to the director.
