Join us for the Morgantown Poetry Slam Competition at 7 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 6 at Weezie's Pub & Club, 417 Holland Avenue, Morgantown, West Virginia.
Poets from Morgantown and surrounding areas (attention folks from Fairmont, W.Va., Frostburg, Md. and Pittsburgh, Pa.) are strongly encouraged to come out and participate.
There will be cash prizes for the top three readers as well as drink specials from Weezie’s.
Thanks to artist Ashton EB Cutright for organizing the slam.
Participants should contact Ashton, sign up ahead of time by going to the slam's Facebook event page. Click "Going" on the event page to stay updated.
Thanks to Brian Ornduff, Tyler K Bray, Nina Forsythe and Jennifer Merrifield for joining me as judges for the event. This is a great group of judges, and we're looking forward to hearing a fantastic mix of area poets.
It's been awhile since we've had a slam in Morgantown. I'm feeling all that pent up slam energy ready to burst out like a solar flare on Friday. This is a don't miss event!
We want a lively audience at the slam, so even if you don't plan to be on stage, we still want you to sure to join us at Weezie's to help us cheer on our local writers.
