Hi friends, just taking a quick second to let folks know about the upcoming New Works Festival at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at M.T. Pockets Theatre, 1390 1/2 University Ave., Morgantown, W.Va.
Here's the link to the Facebook event, https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/273063389487592/
Feel free to join, "like," share, etc.
This is from the event page:
"Join us for an evening of "script-in-hand" readings of works in progress by local authors and members of the M. T. Pockets Theatre Playwright Group. Authors include Dwight Harshbarger, Judith Stitzel, Koula Hartnett, Don Fidler, Theodore Webb and more."
Just as a sneak peek, we have an amazing group of actors and actresses reading the parts for this year's New Works Festival. And I'm very happy to be working with such talented local authors. The New Works Festival will give you laughs, stimulate your thought and much more.
I have two short scenes in this year's festival, one features two young brothers playing "army." The other scene features a husband and wife competing to tell a story about a little town called Maplewood and what happens to turn the town upside down (hope you'll get a few laughs out of this one...) The Maplewood story is part of a draft I'm working on for a full length comedy/play.
Thanks to the M.T. Pockets Theatre Playwright Group, I'm realizing more and more what can be done with comedy. I've learned how comedy fits the stage like a glove. I'm excited to develop a play in addition to the novel I currently have out in ebook format. Play/scene writing helps me bring out another side of my writing and explore dialogue, new ideas.
Hope everyone is enjoying the end of March. April is almost here. Very excited about spring!
