My newest book, "Poems for Poets," is now available as a special, custom, hand-bound art-book through Passive Terrain Press, a new, exciting, creative specialty publisher based here in Morgantown, West Virginia.
"Poems for Poets" features eight poems and a dramatic monologue.
The book follows a story arc of a fictional poet's life, from beginning, the discovery of poetry, "Poetry, I Found You: Naked," to end, with the dramatic monologue, "Death of a Poet" (title styled after the Arthur Miller play "Death of a Salesman.")
In between, are some of my better-known poems which have been read in Eugene, Oregon, Fayetteville, N.C. and at Morgantown Poets, such as the comedic, tongue-in-cheek, "Coffeehouse Barbecue."
There's also "SHOUT OUT" which I read last October during WVU's Diversity Week Poetry Reading, and "A Mile in Her Shoes" read during R.D.V.I.C.'s "Loud Voices" spoken word event, speaking out against domestic violence.

"Poems for Poets," including the book's center poem, "Five Seconds After Midnight," is dedicated to Tamara Woods & Morgantown poets' friends.
To get a taste of the poetry, check out video below/on YouTube. Toward the end of the six minute video, I share one of the book's poems, "Niagara: One Teardrop."
"Poems for Poets" can be custom ordered here on the Passive Terrain website or on Passive Terrain's Etsy shop.

The following is a quote from Passive Terrain's website, passiveterrainpress.com, which explains its mission:
This small, independently ran press is aiming to work with individuals who experience living and working on the margins, to expand the borders of those margins and mobilize out of oppressive structures through art, book, and commodified culture. Passive Terrain aims to publish local writers, and to create high-quality, hand-bound books and journals.
I particularly like the part of Ashton's mission statement regarding "mobilize out of oppressive structures through art." This is certainly what I feel art is and what my writing has always been and always will be. Thus, I'm glad to share the experience of this ongoing mission with Passive Terrain Press.
