Dynamic Dialogue 2013: Videos, Updates

1/2/2013

Friends: Moving into 2013, I continue to work to improve theodorewebb.com. I've added in the menu the tab, VIDEOS, from YouTube (mostly sharing my work at Morgantown Poets & an appearance at West Virginia State University earlier this past fall.)

I've also relabeled this blog page on the menu bar: "Creative World (Blog)" as it deals with the more creative aspects of the writing process, literary/artistic/music events, pics, writing tips, and more. I'll likely continue to talk about aspects of my books and share excerpts where I can, newly published items, freebies/promotions, etc.

Keep in mind, I'm planning more posts this year to include book reviews, marketing our writing, economics of writing, my lifestyle as a writer, e-book publishing, and examinations of the state of the writing industry. Planning to attend more events/workshops this year and to share what I learn here at theodorewebb.com.

I've also added a page here at theodorewebb.com called "Essays." One of my goals is to write non-fiction books (I have interests in history, philosophy/spirituality, economics/thrift, energy/environment, current events/issues, etc... Stay tuned) in addition to fiction. Right now, I'm thinking the "Essays" part of this website may fit with the non-fiction aspect.

(Note: I currently have a transcription of The Bill of Rights on the "Essays" portion of this website. I am challenging everyone to copy, paste and publish The Bill of Rights on your Facebook, Twitter, your website, and more. Let's make it a priority to reaffirm The Bill of Rights in 2013, "modern world" notwithstanding. After all, everything we have depends on The Bill of Rights and people who put their lives on the line for it. The Bill of Rights is the bedrock of every writer in this country, including every citizen who posts on the Internet.)

While I call myself an author because I've always been a reader and a writer, I consider myself a human being first (which I absolutely encourage anyone in any profession to do first and foremost: think of yourself as a human being before your job title or even the work you do). We are all human beings before anything else, but in our society this Reality is often obscured, misunderstood or not fully appreciated. Having worked at different jobs, I have many other interests outside of strictly writing/creative process.

While I hope to entertain as best I can with my writing (or at least make it interesting), as an author, my goal also includes examining/expressing thoughts and ideas, looking for answers, questioning my own mind/perceptions and so on. I have a background in journalism. To this day, I'm a voracious news junkie. I don't read only one genre: I read anything/everything that interests me, whether it's a news article, a history book, a novel, or a poem. All this informs my own writing, along with my life experiences. Every society has a need/role for people who examine themselves and their society, including current issues, with a questioning eye. (Note: I'll likely be writing a more in-depth blog/analysis about this issue soon: Is there a conflict between being an author and being an entertainer? Or is there no conflict? Stay tuned...)

Most of all, keep communicating with me. (Thanks to all the folks who've left comments on blog posts here at theodorewebb.com. You've added some interesting information that I would have not thought of. Your sharing is appreciated.) If you like what you've seen so far at theodorewebb.com, then tell your friends in person, bookmark and share this website on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Let's keep this momentum going and develop a dynamic, outstanding dialogue in 2013.

Let me know what you want to see here at theodorewebb.com, and I'll do my best to write about it and to include it quickly. What are your interests? (Let me know specifics.) What parts of the writing/creative world or process would you most like to see? What questions do you have? What would you like to explore? What would you like this website to highlight or feature in 2013?

Go ahead and leave some comments here on this blog post, hit me up on my Facebook page and/or send me an email. And don't forget to catch me on Twitter @STARLINGCONNECT.
