This question goes back at least to the beginnings of time (or a split second before...)
First things first: Thankfulness that we even have means to eat lunch. Of course, this speaks to the truth of maintaining a general thankfulness we have roofs over our heads, heat, clean water to drink and many basic things that millions of people in the world don't have.
My lunch today was a bowl of Great Northern beans, cooked with garlic & onion powder, oregano and lemon pepper seasoning. I try to avoid adding salt to anything (excess salt weakens artery walls), so I use these spices frequently. I enjoy cooking at home because I can cook in a healthier manner and season to my tastes. It keeps costs down too.
Along with beans, I had a cup of decaffeinated tea. I like drinking hot liquids in the winter time. Here in West Virginia we've had a couple of days of snow.
I've had this tea for awhile. For some reason I was thinking it was green tea, but it was actually regular black tea.
I hear tea has anti-oxidants? Green tea might have more? Perhaps one of my readers can fill me in on whether black tea or green tea is healthier? I'd like to know!
Just curious, what do other writers out there eat for lunch?
Leave some comments here on the blog & let me know what you had for lunch today.
Is there any food out there that's particularly good fuel for the writing process (besides living off of coffee?) Beans seem to stick with me pretty good if I eat a full bowl of them. But are there any other similar nutritious & cost-effective foods that are quick to make?
What's your favorite lunch foods you like to make at home?
