What inspires you?

Most of us are searching for inspiration no matter what kind of work we're doing. As a writer-artist, I'm always looking to be inspired. I often find my inspiration in Nature. Here in West Virginia, in the Appalachian mountains, I'm fortunate to see wildlife in many places I go, whether walking on trails or while traveling. I often see deer, rabbits, groundhogs and other animals. I've seen beaver in the Monongahela River and even a black bear running across a road in the town of Elkins, W.Va. in daylight in mid-afternoon!

I took this photo at Holly Gray Park just outside of my hometown of Sutton, West Virginia. This is a familiar sight in central West Virginia, a sight I grew up with and which is very familiar to me. I'd stopped off the highway after traveling out of state to visit family during Thanksgiving. Seeing these deer made me feel like I was home again. Holly Gray is a beautiful park where the Braxton County Fair is held each summer. I saw a family of at least five deer that evening in a field just before dusk.

Feel free to leave some comments about what inspires you. Are you inspired by sunsets? People? The moon? Rivers or oceans? Stars? Books?

Here are some more pics of the deer family. Enjoy!

My inspiration---I think being from West Virginia, it's really natural for me to find inspiration in nature as well. Also, music enhances my mood, so I think the right music paired up with what I'm writing, really makes it that much more interesting to write.
